![]() A Premier Chess Camp for Players of All Ages OleChess offers a week of quality instruction and chess-related activities featuring some of the world's premier players and teachers. Chess players of all ages, abilities and experience levels will enjoy a week filled with classes, demonstrations, lectures, tournaments, and games, games and more games with fellow chess enthusiasts.July 25-304, 2010 Schedule Camp opens on Sunday afaternoon with check-in between 2 and 4 p.m, followed by an orientation meeting, dinner and an eciting exchibition pitting participatns agains instructional staff. Monday morning begins with the first round of a G/60 tourname that will run through the weekk. Following the tournament is the first of three daily class sessions in which participants are divided into groups and work with a single supervising teacher. A rotating instructional schedule allows participants to study with a variety of teachers during the camp. Afternoon class sessions are followed by dinner in Stav Hall and special activities. Camp closing ceremonies start at 1 p.m. Friday afternoon with trophies awarded to winners in al competitions. Family and friends are invited to attend. Camp Activities Special activities such as a movie night, a campfire and recreational opportunities, including soccer, softball, and basketball, keep things active and interesting at OleChess. Other activities include queck chess tournaments, a "blitz" tournament, Ole Bughouse Mania and a simultaneous exhibition on the Internet Chess Club. Again in 2010: Bowling night for all ages. Camp Faculty Every year, FIDE Master and OleChess Director Kevin Bachler recruits a variety of permier instructors, many of whom are among the best in the world. Previous camp faculty has included grandmasters Gregory Kaidanov, Yury shulman, Igor Novikov and Sergei Kudrin, Gregory Serper, and Irina Krush. Faculty will be listed on the camp website as they are confirmed. Intensive Study Option For an additional fee, OleChess includes an Intensive Study Option for players rated above 1700 or at least 17 years old. This option is intended for the serioius adult student and involves additional instructional periods and lectures and greater classroom rigor. Escort Policy Participants 9 years old or younger may attend camp with an adult escort. There is a maximum of three cammpers per escort. The escort fee includes bowling night, meals and housing in a shared room with the camper(s). Campus Housing and Dinning Participants, instructors and the counseling staff live, eat, study and play together on the scenic campus of St. Olaf College in Northfiled, Minn. Campers are housed two to a room in a comfortable, secure residence hall. Bedding and a bath towel are provided. Meals are catered by Bon Appétit in Stav Hall, the campus dinning hall. Fresh foods with healthy choices and a menu that changes daily prvide a satisfying dining experience that meets the needs of campers young and old. Registration To guarantee a place at OleChess 2010, complete the registration form and return it with your $100 non-refundable deposit. Camp Location and Transportation St. Olaf College is located 40 miles south of the Twin Cities metroplolitan area in historic Northfield, Minn. Since OleChess participants come from all over the United States we offer an optional shuttle service to and from the Minneapolis/St. Paul (MSP) airport. Resident tuition includes double-occupancy lodging, meals, instructional sessions, all special activities and a camp shirt.
Intensive Study Option (ISO) (For players rated above 1700 or at least 17 years old.)
Commuter Tuition: Commuters deduct $50 from resident fees listed above. Commuter tuition includes lunch and dinner, instructional sessions, special activities and a camp shirt. Single Occupancy: A limited number of single-occupancy rooms for both the regular camp and the Intensive-Study Option are available. Dinner Theatre: This option includes dinner, theater tickets and transportation and is available only to adult participants and escsorts. Refund Policy Written cancellation received by May 31 will receive a refund less a $100 non-refundable deposit. No refunds will be made after May 31.
